Lists of endocrine-disrupting chemicals are often created without scientific basis, notes the American Chemistry Council, which evaluated four common lists. Hence, they cannot be relied upon for use outside their specific public purpose.
A new report reviews the adequacy of current test methods to inform regulatory risk assessments of whether a substance has the potential for endocrine-related adverse effects. Findings conclude that validated test methods are adequate.
